My mother and I are working on a book for you all about living simply. We're not sure of the title yet, but we've been working fast and furious on it for quite a while now. We were thinking how nice it would be for people to have something to encourage them in the light of our failing economy, words of wisdom from those who have already gone through hard times. I'm including tried and true suggestions for making ends meet.
So many times people feel they are all alone, but thats certainly not the case. In fact many have already been there done that and lived to say it can be done and here is what you need to know.
On my groups I notice people joining and then realizing that you don't have to jump off into a pit of despair just because times are hard. We ain't see nothin yet, so we'd better start learning all we can now. There are ways to make it, you might not like where you have to live or what you have to eat, but you can live.
My husband was encouraged to go ahead and learn how to make simple bar soap this last weekend. He heard Austin Raulerson has made soap all these years from scratch, and decided if Austin can do it, so can he! We have some pretty soap that looks like sliced white cheddar blocks sitting in our living room drying for two weeks before we can use it. You'd think my husband had a baby.
We're experimenting with making sauerkraut again. This time it looks and tastes better and I think this is going to be a better way of making it than before, simpler too!
You're going to want a copy of the book when it does come out, because it will be very encouraging. We want everyone to realize we are stronger than we think we are.
