Good Morning~I'd like to take the time to encourage you to go look at your pantry (if you have one) and decide to get down to business stocking up. If you're on a special diet, please remember to stock items so you can control what you eat.
My doctor put me on a low sodium diet, so I'd be crazy to stock up a lot of canned foods with salt in them. I have to stock dried legumes, wholegrain pasta, plain oatmeal, you know things that will allow me to control what's put into my food.
At church we're getting ready to welcome in a new pastor and his family. I'm even thinking we need to bless them with healthy foods for their pantry. I sure wouldn't want to be stocking my pantry up and let my pastor's family suffer in hard times. So I'll be thinking about them as I do my best to prepare the pantry.
Here are some good ideas:
Dried: split peas, garbanzo's, black beans, pintos, lentils, limas, navy beans, kidney beans, dehydrated minced onion, sea salt, beef broth, chicken broth, rice, macaroni, spaghetti, barley, lasagna noodles, egg noodles, oatmeal, dry cereal, dried milk, evaporated milk, crackers, summer sausages, sardines, potted meat, vienna sausage, spam, tuna, corned beef, corned beef hash, chili, soups, diced tomatoes, pasta sauce, velveeta cheese, canned fruits, jello, canned vegetables, coffee, creamer, sugar, tea bags, water, relish, mayo, mustard, dressings, canned stew, canned chicken, cookies, popcorn, cooking oil, spices, peanut butter, packaged potato au gratin etc, rice a roni etc, nuts, cream soups, containers of grated cheeses for pastas, bread crumbs, puddings(you can use evaporated or dried milk to make these),pickles, pickle relish, olives, canned beans, juices.
Just don't want you to forget.
Have a great day!!
