Here's a pic of the jumper I made with one of those patterns from the modest dress pattern site:

Very pretty jumper!! If I can get my weight down so I don't look like a printed tent walking around in a dress, I'd like to sew some. I loved the website!! Elaine

I used to wear dresses even when I was a size 28. I guess I just wasn't quite so concerned with how I looked...for me it was a conscience thing, I wore dresses to church, and I went to church a lot, and a comfort thing, too.

Very nice Trisha!!! Need a pic with you in it!
I've just gotten back into sewing over the last year but have yet to make any clothing this go 'round. I use to make dresses for my daughter was she was young and a couple of things for myself. I just acquired my Grandmother's old machine and I know it does more than the portable one I have but I need to read the manual. She still had the original manual. I plan to throw together a couple of pairs of simple pants using a pair that I love as a pattern, but that probably won't happen until the snow starts cause I've got alot of other stuff to do.
Thanks for the motivation!!!

Beautiful jumper! You are quite talented. Elaine jumpers can be flattering on you no matter what your size. You just have to get the right style. I'm a size 20 now but I was up to a size 30/32. Then and now I would wear the jumpers that don't have a seam across the waist or just below the bust. I wear the style that is kind of A-line and has no seaming unless it's princess seaming which is really flattering. Jumpers are my favorite thing to wear - especially if they're plaid. I'm mad about plaid I've made a few jumpers in the past. I like to make them with seasonal fabric too to be festive. Right now I'm waiting until I'm done losing weight to make another one. I'd hate to go through all that work only to have to rip it apart and take it in.

What kind of a diet are you on? ?Hmmmmm, I've got orders from my doctor to drop 30 pounds asap, and am majoring on the foods that dissolve blood clots, thin blood, help circulation, and are good for the nerves. So hope the weight comes off without too much of a struggle. Can't eat anything with lots of vitamin K or it'll interfere with my other foods...Don't want to weigh in too much and get discouraged...would like to ONLY go to the doctors office to weigh in if possible, maybe once a month. Then, maybe will dust off my sewing machine and go look for some material... Elaine

Elaine, remember to exercise...that's just as important as what you eat. Even walking a mile a day at a moderate pace for you would be great. It increases the heart rate and metabolism and helps you use the calories you take in. For overweight people, the benefits are increased. They say it may help you up to 60% more than it helps a person of average weight because your metabolism is slower as a larger person to begin with. Just remember to do it at least 6 hours before bedtime.

Elaine-- do you have access to a pool? Water aerobics is great and easy on the body. Also a good excercise I have found is yoga. Its low impact and you get results. I have gone down 3 sizes since may and have not been that faithful!

Okies....here I am in my jumper, half awake and half slouching...my posture is horrid in the morning. And no, my hips are not THAT big. It's how I'm standing. I'm debating on whether or not I should go back to bed. It might not be a bad idea.

Tricia your jumper looks so nice on you. It's nice that the arms are cut close enough that you can wear it without a tshirt when it's hot out. I don't have any that I can do that with, all of mine need tshirts. Marvie, congratulations on going down 3 sizes! That's great Elaine, you probably have already read in one of my other posts by now, I had Gastric Bypass Surgery. It still takes a lot of work too. I work out 4 or 5 days a week, I changed my diet - no more sugar, pasta, rice and very rarely do I have white bread. I can't help but think had I just done those things before I wouldn't have had to have the surgery but for whatever reason, I just wasn't sticking to it. I have back and knee problems which were getting worse the more weight I put on. The more weight I put on the worse it got so I was getting more and more inactive. When my knees were starting to buckle and I was beginning to fall from that (more than once on the stairs) I made the decision to have the surgery to keep me out of a wheelchair. I'm doing so well now I can't believe it. I still have to be careful with my back but the difference in the pain is amazing. My knees still give me quite a bit of trouble and I'm going to see a specialist about that in a couple of weeks. I was supposed to go today but since I was so dizzy I couldn't drive and I changed my appointment.
