Don't know if everyone is aware of it, but there is a grocery store on the east side of Okeechobee called Harvest Food Center. It's for lower income families(but not terribly low), you don't have to show any papers for proof of income, only fill out an application and you get your little card right then. The food is good, it's discontinued items, items on the edge of expiration date for resale, but still very good for food storage in our pantries! Lots of snacks, plenty of food. Here's an example of some prices--crushed tomatoes 1# cans .25, Campbell tomato soup .25, 12 oz Tri color rotini .33 Very reasonable prices. They do have meats, and a lot of other things. Go check them out. You won't be sorry. This is an excellent way to get your pantry in shape for emergencies and feed your family far cheaper. Make that money stretch. The phone number is 863-357-3663 Harvest Food Center 5295 S.E. Hwy 441 Okeechobee, FL 34974 It's a non profit organization
