We have goats (baby boys are destined for the oven). I have had chickens, Turkeys and ducks before. We packed them in the freezer when the Asian Bird flu hit Turkey. We plan to build a covered, enclosed, portable pens so that I can get more chickens and Turkeys in the spring. I also plan to purchase 2 calves and 2 piglets in the spring to fatten. My parents raised beef cattle when I was a kid, so pigs are the only newbie to me. I have several friends that raise a hog each year, so they can help me along with the project. Melanie in Greece

Melanie, you can have all the pigs you want. That one my husband brought home, I wound up cooking cornmeal and milk for it twice a day because it was so little and then it wouldn't touch pig food, only wanted the cornmeal and milk, oh yeah, I put a yogurt in the mix too, and it never got diarrhea. It had some kind of mites on it, so I rubbed it down with Neem oil from www.neemtreefarms.com and that was the end of mites! I pray we will be able to have a home of our own someday, it would be nice to have cattle. My parents have 9 cows and a bull on their 9 1/2 acres. Elaine
