I use food grade containers that I get for free from the grocery store deli. I ask them periodically to save the biggest ones that they have which look like buckets with handles and lids. I use these for boxed goods in original containers and then seal up the plastic food grade container for my year supply food storage which I keep in my basement. This way I know it will be free from moisture and critters. I also put extra paper products in these when I find things on sale. For boxed items in damaged boxes, if the inside plastic packaging is intact, I think you could just put them in these food grade containers, otherwise I would think about freezing them. We have a grocery place about an hour from here that sells their damaged lots and they might sell entire case of bagels for $1 or a gallon of olive oil for $7. They even send out emails to notify their mailing list of their latest items. Just a couple ideas. Cecilia
