I got too busy and forgot to tell you all what happened when we took my mother to get her epidural Friday.
When we were in the waiting room, an older man with a walking stick started talking to my mother. The waiting room was full, but he out of the blue started talking to my mother asking her what she thought of Pat Robertson on TV and how "those people aren't even sick but it looks like he healed them". Mom didn't say anything about Pat Robertson but told him she could definitely tell him that God does still heal the sick. He said well why are you here then? She told him she has had many healings from God, but this time he didn't so she was there for the doctor to take care of it.
The man kept pressing her for answers to questions that he had and my mother told him instances where God had healed her. Finally he said "Do you think you could say a prayer for me right now before I go in there for my epidural?" She said sure, and prayed for him out loud, neither of them moving from their seats. When the nurse came out to get the man for his proceedure, he said loudly, "I may not need you now, I've had a word of prayer here", and we could hear him telling everyone when he was still going down the hall. When he came out, he was still talking about it and that he thinks God touched him too. Mama told him to begin praying himself, he said he didn't know if God would hear him. She assured him God does hear.
Can you imagine what a faith builder that was to my mother who has been in terrific steady pain since December?! It really touched my heart and made me realize that there really are spiritually hungry people out there who do want to hear about Jesus. That everybody is not hard hearted about their creator. I do believe that the day will come when Christians will go door to door simply to ask if there are needs to be prayed for and pray immedately and try to help those in need best they can in other ways. I know there is a Hispanic church up where we used to live at the dairy who goes around giving out food every Saturday, and he(pastor) prays with people, not requiring anyone to come to his church. If only more churches would get out there and stop spending money on fancy churches and put that money where it needs to go, to help people who are needing help. That church building is better being a humble building where people who know how to pray gather. Not a frame to go show off at.
As Christians, we are commanded by our Lord to spread God's Word wherever we go, we are not to be silent. We are God's church, not that building.
Have a great day!!
