Honestly, I'm been wracking my brain for more ways to save money. The only trouble is, I never get to actually see the savings because there is never any money in my hand so I can proudly say to myself, see here, I've saved THIS MUCH MONEY!!
I think the right way is to take the money saved and put it away so you can identify it an know exactly what you've done to save money has worked for you. That's hard to do when you have 1001 immediate needs pulling at the money.
We pressure canned 14 pints of meatballs the other day. If I had it to do all over again, I'd use quarts when there is a family involved. Very nice to have on hand. I'll be messing with the pressure canner and see what I can do with it. Nothing fancy coming out of my kitchen. Some ladies put out stuff like Apricot cherry-mint rum preserves...no no, it's going to be plain food or forget it here.
My solar sport oven hasn't been outside cooking anything since we moved. It's been too rainy, so I guess thats a good excuse, but when the rain stops, there's no reason not to have something in it every single day. A medium sized pumpkin would be nice to cook. I'd like to put up some fruit jam as well in the solar oven. You can see through the cover and watch it cook and seal. It doesn't over heat and there's no water involved. Really the best way to learn to can up fruits. I'd like to do some applesauce this way as well. Who doesn't like applesauce!!
Take it easy and have a great week!
