Hubby and daughter are off to start their day and I'm ready to start mine. Coffee and Bible study on the front porch, sweep the first layer of autumn (gasp!) leaves off the front walk and last but not least...hugs and snackies for my chickens, ducks, doggies, kitties, and parakeets. I guess that will take a couple of hours. After that, I'll be spending quality time with my canner. What are you all doin' today??

I had company, and the toilet started leaking all over the bathroom floor. Called maintenence (my hubby) and he said the septic is full with all the rain we've had. So somebody is coming some time whenever they get around to it...you know how that goes. So we have no potty until then. How did your canning go? Susan? Did I get your name right?? Elaine

Ugh, I hate bathroom malfunctions. We have a real touchy septic and it rears it's ugly head every once in a while. I woke up one day last week and had the water from the toilet meet me at my bedroom door. Not a good way to start the day!!! Canning went well; I made lots of pear butter. I love making different types of butters. My daughter wants to go shopping for Homecoming dresses this week; I'd rather cut off my head. She is a senior so at least it's the last one. You'd think she was getting married.....I watch Bridezilla so that I can become used to dealing with her when her big day comes. Don't get me wrong, she's a great, strongwilled, beautiful girl...but veryyyyyy dramatic. Time to make dinner. Everyone have a great evening. Susan

I sure don't envy you the dramatic teenage daughter buying dresses thing. Had a dramatic one, she's still like that, but she can be so much fun too!! In fact her birthday is tomorrow the 6th. Pear butter sounds good. I always wanted to make lemon curd. Wonder if I could make it with Stevia. I liked cinnamon sticks and stevia in home canned pears. Hubby said he'd like us to try anise seed and stevia in pears, but we never canned any more of them. Elaine
